Amazingly enough there was no gown this year that grabbed my eye for the worst dresses award at the 82nd Oscar Awards red carpet and must say all the ladies looked absolutely gorgeous this year.
82nd Oscar Awards Zoe Saldana
The dress that caught my eye is that of Avatar actress Zoe Saldana wore a stunning gown by young Riccardo Tisci, the creative director at Givenchy, who was celebrating, after presenting his autumn/winter collection in Paris, She wore the “Natalia” gown, from his summer dresses collection, strapless, chiffon, and shadow-dyed, from palest lilac, on the crystal-strewn bodice, down to the deep violet of the bouffant hem.

Molly Ringwald wore a Grecian-style one-shouldered purple gown, and Mariah Carey, almost wore her off-the-shoulder purple. Charlize Theron shimmered in lilac Christian Dior, with a rather curious “bra” detail on the bodice; and Elizabeth Banks in flowing lilac Versace.
The pale brigade included Kate Winslet, with Veronica Lake hairdo, in a very severe, champagne-coloured Yves Saint Laurent; Best actress, Sandra Bullock, in crystal-beaded Marchesa, with a long train; and Demi Moore, in Versace, with a ruffled train.
There has been much comment on J.Lo’s icy-pink, sci-fi gown, from Giorgio Armani’s Privé collection, which was inspired by the moon.
Oscars fashion dresses
Sarah Jessica Parker and Diane Kruger, both wore Chanel Couture; and Cameron Diaz, one of the few in gold, dazzled in an Oscar de la Renta – just shown on his catwalk at New York Fashion Week, less than a month ago.
The ‘ladies in red’ awards go to Vera Farmiga, in a strapless Marchesa, with a sculpted cascade of ruffles; and Penelope Cruz, in a slightly flamenco Donna Karan.
Giuliana Rancic spotted a navy Gustavo Cadile creation floor-length garment, while Nicole Ritchie picked a curtain-like kaftan in dull greys and blacks, by Reem Accra.
Maggie Gyllenhaal surprised in a vintage floral, hand-painted with cobalt brush-strokes; once again, red-hot off the catwalk from Van Noten’s show a few days ago in Paris.
Meryl Streep, one of the few in white, looked elegant in a classic, long-sleeved Grecian gown.
Move on prom dresses and fashion dresses.
